Scrabble review by Spider Monkey (UK)

This is a classic game and with good reason. It's simple to play, but with infinite levels of game play for all ages and ability. Not only is it fun, but it stretches your vocabulary and mind as well. You'll have many a happy hour if you buy this. Highly recommended.

Twister

Twister

Twister is the simple game that gets more and more complicated as the players tie themselves up in knots. The playing mat is decorated with circles of red, yellow, green and blue where players must place their hands and feet. The mat is waterproof and durable with a wipe-clean surface. The spinner arrow is quick to assemble and easy to use.

Twister review by Mrs. L. M. Griffin "lisagriffin14" (UK)

I (as a child) had many a happy time playing Twister with my siblings, we all got in a real mess with it, and found it great fun. I wouldn't hesitate in buying it for my children.

Articulate

Articulate

Articulate is ridicuously simple, fast and hugely entertaining. Played in teams, the aim is to describe as many words as possible to your team-mates within a 30 second time-limit, without saying "sounds like" or "rhymes with". Don't just take our word for it though... Articulate has been voted best game year after year by radio stations, newspapers and magazines across Britain, and you can even buy extra packs so the fun will keep on going.

Articulate review by A Customer

Articulate is a really fab game. It's not really suitable for children, but great fun for older teenagers and adults. It's easy to learn and simple to set up. The idea is for teams to describe words from differrent categories, it gets everyone talking and thinking fast and can be hilarious. It has been the number one game in our family for years.

Blokus

Blokus

As featured in "Hamley's Brain Gym", this ly compelling strategy game has loads to recommend it, including its originality and numerous international awards. The rules are easy to learn and games are fast paced, lasting for around 20-30 minutes. But by the time you've played Blokus once, you'll want to play it over and over again...

Game of the Decade, 11 Mar 2006
Blokus review by "glenbush"

Nanny really came up trumps with this one at Christmas ! Such a simple idea, but an EXCELLENT game......just can't stop playing.A raised plastic grid & games pieces in four different colours that are squares joined together in different formations. The goal is to cover the board connecting as many as your pieces as possible, but they are only allowed to touch in the corners. At the same time the idea is to 'Block' your fellow players......trying to think ahead is impossible, just as you have your next move planned someone gets in your way!

Blokus is enjoyed by all my family from aged 8 upwards.....friends that played with us promply ordered two from Amazon....one for Granny! May you enjoy too!

Carcassonne

Carcassonne

A fiendishly clever tile laying game. The city of Carcassonne in Souther France is renowned for its unique Roman and Medieval fortifications. Players must develop the area surrounding Carcassonne and deploy their followers on roads, in cities and in the fields. The players who are most skilful in developing the area will emerge victorious.

Carcassone review by "richie_abz"

A friend of mine introduced me to Carcassone last year and it's spread like wildfire amongst my family & friends. The basic premise is that players take it in turn to pull map tiles out of a bag and place them like a jigsaw so that features such as roads, rivers, fields and cities grow. Any unclaimed feaure can be claimed by placing one of your characters on the tile, and you get points for each completed feature. There's a bit more strategy to it than that, but the basic game is very accessible, playable after 5 minutes rules, and the expansions really add to your options so that you can play as complex or as simple rules as you like (or as time allows).

Typically a game lasts about an hour with 5 people, and I can't recommend it strongly enough. If you're considering buying any board game, you won't go far wrong with this one.

A must for every family!, 7 Oct 2003
Cranium review by "madz_27"

What a wonderful, novel, fun game Cranium is!

I went away on the annual family holiday armed with this board game and I can honestly say it's the most family fun we've had in a long time. The best thing about it is the diversity of the challenges - clay modelling, drawing, charades, spelling, humming, puzzles, general knowledge to name but a few, it's certainly not easy to get bored with it. I expected we would have a game one evening but we ended up giving up the nightly trip to the pub/club to stay in, get the drinks in and get this game out, it was hilarious fun. Age is no obstacle either, my two nieces of 8 and 10 played, along with myself (24), my partner (30), my parents (57 & 60) and even my Grandad of 85 had a go.

One of my nieces has now asked for the game for Christmas and I know it'll be a good buy as it's a game that will come out of the cupboard time and time again... well worth every penny!

Game of Life review by Jonathan Fiber (UK)

This game is interesting and fun at the same time, it is sort of like monopoly but even better! The game includes daily jobs, houses you can buy and you make a family in your flash new car.

I find it suprisingly long and very entertaining...like real life but just a game!

Rummikub

Rummikub

With rules that should be familiar to fans of gin rummy, Rummikub is the classic tile game that's guaranteed to get millions of hours of use in any family. Players must take 14 numbered tiles and try to lose them as quickly as possible by creating runs (such as 7-8-9) and sets (7-7-7). The most enjoyable aspect of the game - and the part that's best for stimulating strategic thinking - is that you can steal from and reorder the efforts of other players in your attempt to lose even more tiles.

My daughter started playing this when she was 6 and a year later she is now learning the finer points of the game. She enjoys it just as much as her grandfather does. A great, non-gimmicky game.

Trionimos Review, 8 Aug 2003
Trionimos review by A Customer

This game is a great game for the family or your flatmates. I live with 3 other people and this is one game we always bring out at least once a week. Its great for a group of 3-4 people, it keeps your attention and usually someone different wins each game. Some of it is luck- depending on what counters you pick up to start with, sometimes its a matter of how on the ball you are when it comes to placing the counters down stategically.

Its definately a good game for travelling as well, once you take the counters from the box they can be placed in small bag and they are very light. Since its easy to learn your always going to have people to play with!

Have fun!
